It's my feeling that this software is outdated and doesn't allow the flexibility we should have. Unfortunately, we find ourselves creating fixture plates that are unique to the individual machines rather than loading an offset to account for that difference. Sounds rather old-school, right? What I’m trying to find out is what is the TRUE industry standard for full 5-axis impeller programming? There seems to be so many that it’s difficult to ascertain the true “best in class”. Please share what you are using and the good and bad aspects. Comment #1 fatkid from ashland,Ohio - We machine/proto type turbines and stators for for torque converters(hint..I work for a german owned company in ohin who makes clutches and torque converters) We also have a hermle 5-axis but it has the hiedenhan contol. We use edge cam for offline programing and hiedie for shop floor. I am convinced this is the true "best in class" way. we just got the new edge cam verson 10.1 To utilize full 5- axis capabilities.I cant wait to see this in action! I think its cool to watch the hermy( as it is lovingly known as) flip flop around machining these parts. Setup wise we used to use a fixture for 1st and 2nd side but now use just a 3 jaw chuck for both sides.Quick and painless most of the time. They have the siemens controls in germany and all my german apprentices complained about them.so I kinda know your pain :) I dont run the hemy anymore but i am still in the toolroom on a different mill(mazak)but every now and then i get shoved back on to cover for vaction.kind of a nice refresher course. Comment #2 NICK KATROV from MASS - There is a software company in wouburn, mass called CONCEPTS NREC they offer a very nice software geared towards impeler programming for 5-axis it is incredibly easy to use. They also have 3 5-axis machines and i have seen it. It works well. The only downside is they can only do impelers and blades. it does not have a vide range of 5axis tool paths, but is very easy to program impelers and blades Comment #3 Kartik Kadam (220.225.109.34) - Hey try Mastercam its the best Comment #4 mr.piran (92.242.212.204) - total price cnc 5-axis
