I am trying to connect our CNC machine to a computer in an office about 50 feet away. I keep getting data transfer errors unless I set the speed very low. The fastest communications is 1200 baud.Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I tried to learn how to make rs232 cables for cnc but it was too frustrating.

I think the configuration at the receiver's end is to be checked, that is why you are getting the data transfer error at higher speed.

Black box makes cords for the 50 foot length.
