Vertical axis brake

Thank author of this post/commentVertical axis drifts down @ power off / estop.

Replace brake and its good for a couple months, then starts again.

Thank author of this post/commentCheck the voltage going to the brake when the machine is up and ready. If the voltage is low, it will cause the brake to drag and wear out the pad. What machine is this on?

I agree with "chip pan" but also think you should check if you have a counterbalance problem, if there is then the brake will be working too hard and wearing out prematurely.

Thank author of this post/commentDear Gerlad , please tell us if the motor is a DC motor or a AC motor , these problems are normally associated with dc motors and these problems are with those machines which do not have any counter balances , maybe you could look at the feasibility of a Hydraulic counteer balance whhci will be the easiest.
