'cnc sl2 mori seiki 2000g control'

Has anyone had a problem with the older sl2 mori seki(1970 something) lathes loosing the parameters and the program? poooff everything gone???this lathe has the yasnac control 2000g.

memory board shot maybe ??

And any good sites where to buy vintage replacement parts?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe a bad battery backup. Ive seen this when the battery gets

old and the power flickers

thanks Bill for info,I did check the battery back-up and it checks at 3v.which is ok.What I did find out that it was a memory board which I purchased at yaskawa,exchange for about $1300.the machine is back up and running.some places I looked for the same board was $2800!(exchange).It pays to shop a little.

Memory loss of Y2000G/G2 controls is often caused by loose cables

between the sections of the control, and e-proms backing out. Try

reseating all the cables and the proms (found on the master board

and the ladder board). Also check your 5 volts on your power suppluy. It should be 5.0 to 5.15 volts. Check it in the AC range

and make sure there is no ripple.

I have access to some operators and programming manuals, but they

are ratty (pages separated). I have a fairly complete copy of the

schematics, but it is a copy of a copy of a copy, so I have had

to pencil in places where it is hard to read. No, I don't have a

pff of them, they are some odd page size (neither B nor C) and

don't fit a scanner.

If you call Yaskawa, there are still a couple of guys who know

the control, but most of them won't tell you squat.

As far as the spindle drives go, just replace them with AC motor

and drive, and have done with it. It is cheaper than trying to

get those old drives and motors repaired.

I have the manuals for an SL-4 with yasnac 2000g. I have had the machine since new and it is the best. I have been programing and running the machine and know it well. If you have specific questions maybe I can help. Se habla espanol.

We are closing our doors to our great machine shop to move on to new places and we have a machine that has always served us well. It runs great and holds great, it just needs a new power supply. Its a Mori Seiki SL2 with a Yasnac 2000 G Control, with BTR installed. All tool holders will be included with the sale. The machine has not been used for about 4 weeks. This machine is also equipped to communicate with your PC. For those of you who have used this model you know what a great find this is.

Hello, I have a Mori Seiki SL 2 Yasnac 2000G, I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on basic step by step programming, I'm having trouble writing more than one block on a program. I'm not sure if its the EOB button thats not working or if I'm punching it at the wrong time, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
