The Fanuc 3M control can easily be upgraded to DNC (dripfeed) operation. It takes about 15 minutes and is very affordable from here:fanuc3mdripfeed.com All it takes is changing the 8 control chips on the main mother board and a few parameters; people have been doing it for years with no problems at all. What you get is unlimited memory (from your PC/laptop), full 3 axis control, an almost instant retrofit for a few hundred bucks, and the "Time Bomb" removed from your mother board. The "Time Bomb" is that Fanuc EPROM chips begin to lose their memory after about 20 years, causing sudden mother board failures, data losses, machine crashes etc. These new chips give the Fanuc 3M control 20 extra years and bring them into the modern CNC machining world. The website supplied is the by far the cheapest available, and the only to supply all the 8 chips in their own sockets to prevent bending/breaking pins. In addition you get a special chip puller and anti-static wristband with full instructions and free back up service. Its so simple and the instructions so complete you don't even need a service engineer to do it. If you don't have DNC link software they even supply that (FREE) with the parameter settings that work on their chips. Some times you can even buy them from eBay. This DNC/dripfeed upgrade has been used all over the world for those who don't want (or cannot afford) a new CNC machine. |
