MV55 exceute program problem 6m

I have a Moriseki mv55 with a fanuc 6m. 1984 vintage. Witch i have just purchased. Not many books.
I am having trouble geting the program in to the buffer. I am not sure if it is a computer problem. or the nut on the end.
Or possibly the tool parametrs. I havent worked out how to set them.
All axis work, the cutter head turns to aline for tool change. But will not run.
Can any one help ?
