Nick Roush (208.49.101.65) -

getting the following alarm (SVO436)Z soft thermal ovc.

i get it several times throughout the day but it only happens on one tool, same tool. it is not a big/long tool. Happens in retract back to tool check position.

What could be causing it? and what would be the corrective action?

What kind of machine and control are you using? This is a encoder alarm. Here is a link to a thread that might help you out. You can also google "fanuc alarm servo 436" and it comes up with quite a few places to look.

"401 alaram"

Check the continuity of the

pulse coder signal cable. If

the cable is normal, the

pulse coder or servo amplifier

unit may be defective.

This error can also be

caused by external noise.

"SVO17 X ILL Position Control LSI"

We have a Fanuc 11 on our Mori Seiki MV-55 Mill. This alarm came up yesterday. I also get a Pulse Coder Disconnect on the display and on the Drive Package, (LED). When Powering up the control with EStop depressed, I get the SVO17 immediatly. When I clear EStop, X Axis wants to run away. It then goes into a SVOOO and SVO13. I know that the SVO13 is the loss of 100V to Velocity Control Unit. Possible Bacd Pulse Coder or Broken wire? Thanks for your help. Robert.

"SVO17 X ILL Position Control LSI"

To Whom it may concern. Remedy to my problem dated MAR6 2010. The SV017 alarm I was getting was a bad LSI chip for X axis on the Mother Board.. Luckily I had an additional axis board for an optional 4th and 5th axis. I just used the available LSI chip in the add axis board. They just pull out of the socket and plug right into the mother board. Problem solved.
