Spindle Drive blows 2amp
BBLLC from Ohio -
1986 or 1987 Hardinge Super Slant 3 axis GN control The Spindle drive is burning 2 amp fuse on the supply lines to spindle drive boards. I have had hardnge tech out. He couldn, t fix it. I have checked boards for loose connections. I start up the macine and the start up will go as far as to start home sequnice but blows the fuse 30 seconds to even start to move home, trips to E-stop. Not always the same leg of the 3 wires. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks Mark Sr.

hi We had a problem like that, it was bad fields in spd. motor.had motor rebuilt and run fine. we junked the machine but kept most parts.it was running when we shut it down.I have the complete spd drive & motor (run machine for 2 months after motor rebuilt)replaced with new machine. let me know BOB PS, the ohms on the fields should be around 128 ohms ours was around 25 ohms before rebuild also if i remember the fuses are for axis & spd drives. I seperated the fuses, I put a set in for the spd drive only and left the axis fuses in place.
