I just bought an older ht 20 (1989) with low hours on the spindle and had to advance the tailstock and then completely retract it before any other machine responce on power up. You can try that. I hope it helps.I am also having trouble homing the Z. I determined that the deceleration micro switch for the Z was not being depressed far enough to send the signal. I moved the dog out .06 and now decelerates ok but still doesn't stop at machine Z "0" to register home. It over travels to the soft switch. Does anyone now the next step in troubleshoot this problem.

what kind of control is on your machine? You may have to adjust the soft overtravel parameters. It sounds like it is reaching the limits before it reads the marker on the encoder. It could also be that your switch is to close to the marker. Maybe move it a bit further away. This could also be done by adjusting your "gridshift" parameters. Do you have a scope to see if your encoder has a marker? Remember all of this adjusting doesn't do you any good until you adjust your softlimit parameters. Stevo • Page 1 (Original Post) •
