I just acquired an old motion master 3 axis. I need to put a new front end on the motion control. I understand the faunc stuff is proprietary, I am looking for threads on the subject. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

RC

What do you mean? Put a new front end on the motion control?

What are we trying to change a perfectly good drive and position control to? Or into?

Fanuc even used siemens drives and motors in a series of their early cnc EDMs its just a few params. to weed out.

Havein fun. Later Jim

the general numeric controller on the machine is as best as I am able to determine, able to handle 2axis interpolation at a time only. I need three simultaneous at least, and possibly 4. consequently I need a new motion control system, the existing velocity control system may or may not work, I expect the servos are fine, the electronics are 23 years old, not necessarily a bad thing, but not necessarily good either. I have to put $ into the system one way or another, the key is what's the most cost effective way for me to go?
