Is CNC the best in its class concerning machine shop standard equipment and tools, and what not?

"Can be"

Yes CNC is the best standard for machining. However when setting up a shop or product line you must take into account the cost of equipment, tooling, operators, etc vs the return. IOW is the precision and quickness an overkill for the product.
