I purchased a CNC router with a stepper motor because of the low speed torque and low maintenance, but now I am finding that it cannot give me the accuracy that I need. Is there something I can do to bring it closer to accuracy or do I have to get one with a servo motor? I am concerned about the very dusty environment with the servo.

Are your steppers using a microstepping drive, or are they full step? Microstepping will provide smaller steps that _may_ increase accuracy. If the machine structure and leadscrews are not up to the task changing drive technologies will not solve teh problem. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
